|
Will these people ever stop complaining that America
is not fair? |
|
Where in the world on any continent -- including
Africa -- at any time ever before, or today, or tomorrow, have these
people had more opportunity, more support, more aid, more caring? |
|
Will they ever understand that it
is time to stop taking, stop whining, stop blaming America? |
|
Will they ever understand that it
is time to get to work rebuilding their homes? |
|
The hallmark of Katrina is that after one full year
has passed these people continue to whine and have failed to
rebuild. |
|
The US government has paid hundreds of millions of
dollars in assistance. Tens of millions of dollars have been lost
through fraud, graft, and thievery. Generous Americans across the
nation contributed money have lost millions of dollars to criminals
who usurped the money intended for victims. |
|
Do these victims recall the the victims of hurricane
Andrew in 1992? Those victims accepted reasonable assistance and
charity. They rebuilt their homes and their city, Homestead,
Florida, within a few years. It soon was again a thriving, clean,
productive city. |
|
Katrina's victims prove that it is easier to whine
and take than to work and rebuild. |
|
No one should be surprised when quite possibly,
America has no more to give... or have taken from her. |

Update: June 3, 2008 -- NBC News in Biloxi
reports that nearly three years after hurricane Katrina, there are
people continuing to live off the taxpayers. |
|
Some were located living in air conditioned rooms
in a Quality Inn motel. These individuals moved there after their
stay in the FEMA-provided trailers ended. However, these rooms are
paid for by FEMA. |
| FEMA
was unable to provide the exact
costs for meals and hotel rooms.
However, FEMA repeatedly states that
it works with people to locate
permanent housing and will not leave any Katrina
victim homeless. |
| Since
Katrina -- nearly three years ago
-- the US Attorney's Office in Mississippi has charged
over 275 people with fraud. |
