Industrial production in the United States declined by 1% during 2009. This was the largest decline since the government started tracking this data in 1967.
This statistic proves that businesses and investors are reluctant to build plant and equipment, invest in general, and will continue to reduce hiring. Businesses and investors are reacting to the US government's plans to increase taxes, accumulate untenable deficits, spend borrowed and printed money, and restructure the US economy, including the one-sixth that is the health care sector.
This reluctance is nothing less than business and investment people going on strike.

Saving Western Civilization is a big job. Someone really should do it. It would be such a noble thing to have accomplished.
The New York Times, under the byline of Maureen Dowd, liberated white men from their self-imposed dungeons of timidity. Dowd's Op-Ed, entitled "White Men's Last Stand", elevated this nearly extinct species onto the stage previously reserved for women and minorities.

    The US government committed $127 billion in resources and tax relief in the two years since hurricanes Katrina and Rita for New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region. Following World War II the US government spent an inflation adjusted $107 billion between 1947 and 1951 on the Marshall Plan to rebuild 16 European nations.
The federal government has already given the City of New Orleans more millions of dollars than the State of Louisiana's state-wide annual budget!

The huge German steelmaker ThyssenKrupp AG announced it will build a $4.19 billion steel plant in Mobile, Alabama. The project could create thousands of jobs.

Why do victims of hurricanes and tornados across the US -- as a natural matter of course -- rebuild their homes, cities, & lives? Why haven't Katrina's victims done the same 2 years later? Why, after billions of dollars of aid & assistance does New Orleans remain in shambles? Why have there been hundreds of millions of dollars worth of fraud perpetrated by Katrina's victims? Why -- two years later -- has the mayor of New Orleans demanded federal troops be installed to stop felony crime?
Why have Mississippi's victims rebuilt?
Update:  June 3, 2008 -- NBC News in Biloxi reports that nearly three years after hurricane Katrina, there are people continuing to live off the taxpayers.
When will the inhabitants of New Orleans stop wallowing and get to work rebuilding their homes?

Bin Laden has lived on the run for years with a multi-million dollar bounty hanging over him. Wherever he is staying day to day, it is likely unhealthy, not pleasurable, and dangerous.

Don't Care
Few observations are as simple as this. The arrogance, ignorance and lack of concern for quality in work and personal efforts is leading to the self-motivated, undermining and downfall of the US.
Following just days after NASA twice postponed the Shuttle's launch for weather-related reasons, cracks in the infamous foam were detected during a routine examination. NASA juveniles are now sitting around discussing the politics, their jobs and some risks of proceeding with tomorrow's launch.
Recall the juvenile space cadet NASA workers' arrogant words over 11 days while they dallied waiting for Columbia to burn upon entry. Regarding that foam problem, those responsible chanted, "No problem." They were correct. It was not a problem for them. It was only a problem for the Columbia's crew. And NASA. And the US of A. And the omnipotent ignorance displayed our failing culture.
NASA has failed to correct the foam problem and continues to ignore it. If that, there are other problems being ignored.
S.W.I.F.T. -- The gateway has been  breached by sinister forces.
Music is not always music to other ears.
Delta pilots do a deal recognizing realities of global economics. They agreed to a reasonable contract. They now will have productive work and the company will continue to have high-caliber employees.

A good deal is good for all involved.
